installation
Islip Art Museum, Long Island, New York
THIRST (Elegy for Esther) is a mixed media installation
which explores rituals surrounding water and the search for
water to satisfy both physical and metaphysical human longings.
Entering a darkened room, the slow, unpredictable drips of water
onto heated steel discs alter and extend one’s perception
of time. Fishing poles mark the space like implements of anticipation.
Small monitors resembling lead fishing weights suspend video
images of a dowser’s search for water.
Mixed-media installation:
Heated steel discs, vinyl & copper tubing with water, fishing
poles with video monitors as weights/pendulums
