Site-Specific Installation
Kansas City, Missouri

Thirst is a mixed media installation addressing both physical and metaphysical longings through the use of ice, steam, heat, sound and video. Ice cast in the form of buckets melted and dripped onto three heated steel discs then changed to steam, never being accessible for drinking. Both the viewer and the site were engaged through video images of bare feet descending the steps into the installation. These images were projected through small video monitors suspended from fishing poles like lead weights. Three video loops cross-referenced both the site and the archetypal search to ‘quench’ the thirst of longings. Mixed-Media: Ice, steam, steel discs ( 3’, 5’ and 7’ in diameter), heating elements, wood fishing poles, video monitors and cable, steel ladle, light and site. Dimensions: 9’H x 60’ x 100’
